Merel Bos, isolated collective uniqueness
isolated collective uniquenessMy collection is about the fact that people today seem less and less interested in joining a group. Everybody wants to be unique. Ironically, this causes isolation. I believe we shouldn’t shy away from forming groups – we just need to create a new kind of group: one in which everyone can be unique yet still share a collective ideal.

Fabian Bredt, relatable fluid identities
relatable fluid identitiesMy collection 'Identity 3.0' is about celebrating a more fluid understanding of a visual identity. The internet has enabled us to be the most plural youth movement in history. This idea of a group identity I want to show by spreading every silhouette of my collection across three models.

Ruby de Bruijn, detailed new beginnings
detailed new beginningsMy collection is about a new kind of beginning. This new beginning contains influences of modern minimalism and our own Dutch folklore. Inspired by the old fishermen and the little boys who act like grown-ups I made a collection that’s clean and simple. But with handmade details such as weaving, knitting and embroidery.

Nikki Duijst, anonymous fear for spotlights
anonymous fear for spotlightsMy collection ‘As We Seek Our Face’ is about the exploration of my personal fear for being in the spotlight versus portraying oneself. With today’s social media we are automatically pushed into presenting ourselves as extraordinary personalities. So I started thinking about a strong wish for anonymity. That’s why my silhouettes hint at the influence of an interaction between femininity, seclusion and exposing yourself.

Olivier Jehee, eclectic tolerated power
eclectic tolerated powerMy collection is about dominance and power, and the clashing worlds in which I can recognize these two elements. There’s the decadent, luxurious side of power, with references like couture, Stephen Tennant and 18th century kings, but I can also see power and dominance within subcultures like the punks and skinheads. These influences come along with a more agressive, raw protest feeling.

Anne Oomen, authentic confident solitudes
authentic confident solitudesI was inspired by the women in the work of the American painter Edward Hopper. There’s a mystery and solitude about these women that is caused by the fact that direct personal contact between people is increasingly disappearing. So my collection is about a woman who has to maintain herself in today’s society that is increasingly characterized by superficiality.

Nienke Smeulders, timeless folkloric memory loss
timeless folkloric memory lossMy collection is about forgotten traditional clothing. As a starting point I take the generation that was raised with Dutch folkloric costumes. Many of these people are now old, some suffering from Alzheimer disease. The folklore costumes were once a familiar sight to them but with those gone, they don’t recognize the current fashion image that has much more multicultural influences. With my collection I want to restore those familiar elements within a contemporary look.

Marlies van Stolk, bold illusive perceptions!
bold illusive perceptions!Taking inspiration from optical illusion, distortion and the psychedelic movement, my collection is about the exploration of how our minds and our vision work to (re)correct what we think is wrong with what we see. I translate this by using illusive shapes to design as well as depth perception in the fabrics. I have also imagined the movement of the clothes on the runway and how their changing forms may be seen.

Bram Vervoort, minimal communication methods.
minimal communication methods. My collection is about our way of communicating nowadays. Graphic designers like to use numbers because they’re internationally and instantly recognizable. This immediacy I could compare to our own methods of communicating, sharing information on social media in an impersonal way. This contrasting feeling I have tried to capture by working with my own personal codes and passwords in prints and cut-outs.
